Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that we are situated on, and recording from the traditional lands of the Anishnaabeg in what is now called Ontario. We recognize that Maud comes from land she referred to as Prince Edward Island but the Indigenous people of the area, the Mi'k Maq call it Epekwitk.
As guests on these lands, we recognize the complicity of ourselves, and of LM Montgomery, in the colonial project. We recognize that LM Montgomery came from another time and place but that is not an excuse. We can only try to keep acknowledging this, keep learning from our time and place, right now, and to be better allies to Indigenous peoples. As Maud appreciated nature and the land around her, so do we, and we thank and acknowledge the enduring presence of Indigenous people on all of these lands.
